- Pre-employment and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing
- Stringent background and record checks
- Physical performance evaluations
- Comprehensive Customer Service training
- The Smith System of Defensive Driver Training program completed as part of new driver training with refreshers conducted throughout the year.
- Extensive ongoing driver training including in classroom and behind the wheel training

Preventive Maintenance
Our comprehensive, computerized preventive maintenance program helps prevent breakdowns. This means fewer service interruptions in your shuttle service schedules – and fewer hassles for you, your staff and your customers. Work orders, preventative maintenance inspection (PMI) reports and our Maintenance Management System (MMS) are used to document performance of the preventative maintenance process and to ensure the reliability of your shuttle bus service.

The Green Cross Safety Medal
FirstGroup, the parent company of First Transit, is honored to be selected by The National Safety Council (NSC) as the recipient of the 2009 Green Cross for Safety Medal, the highest award for safety in North America.
